Boy Scout / Tractor Theme Memorial Plaque
The design ready to start the mold making process...
The design was modeled after a tractor grille shell which in this case started off as a hot rod heater box grille.
Here is the mold all "rammed up" in the casting sand.
The "cope" and "drag" closed up ready to pour the aluminum
Melting the aluminum in the furnace. Aluminum melts at 1,220 F but I usually pour a piece like this one at 1,385 F
Fresh out of the sand mold with the "sprue" and "gating" still attached.
The next step is to cut off the "sprue" and "gating" then drill the hole for the pole, sand blast, sand, powdercoat and polish
